A version upgrade and stability pass on a long-running Islamic Q&A platform founded in 2000, done without disrupting a large, active user base.
Challenge
Upgrading a live platform's core dependencies is one of the riskier jobs in production work: done wrong, it breaks existing functionality for real users with no warning. AskImam, founded in 2000, needed a version upgrade and stability pass without taking the platform down or introducing regressions for its established user base.
Solution
We upgraded the project to a newer stack version while resolving the major bugs that surfaced along the way, prioritizing stability over a rushed migration. We also updated the Django admin dashboard to make day-to-day platform management more reliable, and integrated Google Analytics to give the team visibility into user engagement.
Results
The upgrade shipped without downtime or regressions for AskImam's active user base, and the team now has real usage data to inform what comes next.
